MOON 7
January 10 to February 6, 2006 How can I Attune my Service to others?
Blessings to all, and welcome ohm again. This Moon gives us a live, intimate and interactive Odel Johnson; Updates on our Web Sites including gifts from and to our community; The mystical number 13; Experiments in Waves of Gratitude; Stories of Self Medicating Animals as well as powers of the Monkey Medicine.
MC for the night will be none other than Tony Barnes, co-host of Urbanspace Online, a Toronto based radio show that provides news and music about our Reggae community. You can catch their excellent show on CKLN's live Internet broadcast every Thursday from 11 AM to 2 PM. Odel says that this performance will be a great opportunity to get up close, intimate and interactive with him, and the night will also see many special guests, including tk2000 from Boogiewall Soundsystem. Seating is limited, so come down early, doors open at 9 PM, and there is no cover. This could be a good time to come hang out with your friends and community on a cool Canadian winter night.
Speaking of long winter nights, apart from getting ready for our next wave of new Reggae releases we also had the chance of getting our new web sites in full gear. Check out the new looks of Toronto's Dub Ambassadors Boogiewall Soundsystem as well as Roots Rock Reggae advocate Odel Johnson. The new sites include Tour updates, new photos and other downloadable goodies. We've also updated our own site at Ohm Grown Records, come check it out and let us know how you like it. We've added more Community Radio stations to our extended Request A Song page to include broadcast stations from across Canada and the United States of America. The DJs would very much love to hear from you, so don't be shy about attuning your service to others by getting in touch with them and letting them know what you would like to hear. Community Radio stations are of course also a great way of sharing information with the masses quickly, so if you have anything news worthy you can call them with your own news as well. If you know of any radio stations that should be included on that list why not let us know. Another addition to our site is our newly launched Message Board. Topics include the sights and sounds of Boogiewall Soundsystem, Odel Johnson, a forum on our Nature of Hope campaign to help clean up landmines in Africa as well as a discussion forum on the benefits of following the all natural 13 Moon - 28 Day calendar. The Message Board is NOT moderated as it serves as a tool for We The People to freely express itself, so feel free to join in and speak your truth. It is also accessible through all of our artist's sites, so if there are any additional forums you would like to see and participate in why not get in touch with us.
A Wavespell refers to the entire cycle of the 13 Tones of Creation, 1 to 13. Because a Wavespell is any cycle of 13, there are both 13 Day wavespells, as well as 13 Moon wavespells. In other words, the Year cycle itself is also a giant wavespell spiral, where each 28 Day Moon holds the energy of one of 13 Tones of Creation!
This day-to-day count of creative energies harmoniously overlays upon the simple foundation of the 13 Moon yearly calendar. Regarding the definition of "wavespell," a "wave" is a motion in time, and a "spell" is that which can be cast, known, or experienced during that time. Another way it is defined is a "wave" refers to the power of movement, and "spell" to the power one can gain by being in harmony with reality.
To stay on the topic, here is an experiment in Waves of Gratitude that our friend Stacey Robyn has put together. Her mission is to collect 1 Million people to create a gigantic, global Wave of Gratitude, so if you would like to join in be prepared to receive the Master Key.
The primatologist on Chausiku's tail, Mike Huffman, was puzzled by her behaviour - which he subsequently saw repeated by other ailing chimps in the Mahale Mountains National Park, Tanzania. When his research assistant, Mohemadi Seifu Kalunde, mentioned that Bitter Leaf was used by local Tongwe people to treat malarial fever, stomach cramps and intestinal parasites, his puzzlement turned to excitement. Was Chausiku dosing herself for some intestinal malaise? The local people, he discovered, used the leaves, bark and roots of the plant, whereas Chausiku used the pith. Did she know something the Tongwe didn't? Huffman's observations of the sick Chausiku triggered a new wave of research into the medicinal properties of Bitter Leaf - a plant that was already well-known to chemists. "This plant has been intensively studied for more than half a century," says Huffman, who is based at the Primate Research Institute of Kyoto University, Japan. "But when we looked at the plant part that the chimps were using we discovered 13 new chemical compounds." Many of those new compounds turned out to have therapeutic effects, and that work created a flurry of excitement and helped to establish the new field of Animal Self-Medication.
There are many cases of Self Medicating Animals, and the African Chimpanzee is definitely one of the smartest. Beneficial Properties isolated from food items from a Wild Chimpanzee Diet are being discovered on a regular basis including 3 new Plant Compounds called Saponins that were isolated from plants consumed by chimps. These 3 compounds have been highly effective in suppressing Tumor Cells in Laboratory Experiments.
More monkey business: This month's totem animal is the Monkey !! ![]()
Monkeys are fascinating animals to watch. Their acrobatic maneuvers hold the energy of effortlessness and grace. They twist, turn, jump, and hang with the greatest of ease. They crawl up and down tree trunks and leap from branch to branch extending their long arms outward towards the next limb. Once they arrive at their destination they stop, look around and contemplate what is in their immediate environment. Moving in all directions, forward, backwards and sideways gives the Monkey the advantage of seeing things from different angles. They have excellent vision and are able to see that which is hidden from normal view. Their master ship of movement and keen observation skills help them reach their destination safely. According to ancient native wisdom, Monkey Medicine helps with the ability to know where we are going and understand where we have been. Through perseverance, focus and fluid movement their goals can be attained. Monkey will also be able to lead you into a deeper study of the origin of the human species and an examination of the ancient wisdoms. The agile mentality of this spirit helper will provide you with inspiration and insight when you most need it. The Monkey represents the darker side of the human psyche, but also holds the key to right living. See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil. The ability to see both the dark and the light may unexpectedly enrichen and strengthen. If the Monkey is chosen as your totem animal, you have an ally that is both creative and imaginative. Curious and clever a Monkey's mood can change instantaneously giving them an air of unpredictability. A general theme for those that carry this medicine is to "expect the unexpected." The Monkey is a powerful ally to have. A master at shape shifting realities it prompts us to explore all aspects of who we are and who we choose to become. By learning from the monkey and applying its skills of power, grace and observation, foundations are created that give birth to our choices. Eventually these choices will manifest in our lives so if Monkey is your totem be careful of what you choose.
